The MET x Eichholtz table lamp Falcon

Eichholtz’s “Falcon Table Lamp” pays homage to a bronze falcon (ca. 1200–1220) forged in southern Italy and now part of the collection at The Cloisters, The Met’s center for medieval art and architecture. This expertly cast figure has been associated with the Hohenstaufen emperors, a Germanic dynasty that ruled over lands that make up present-day Germany and Italy. This proud avian likeness, which might have graced a throne or the top of a tent pole, is reimagined as the base of this lamp, topped with a linen-blend shade handmade in the Netherlands.
